OUR STORY

For years, I spoke Spanish well enough. I could get around, order food, understand conversations and on the surface I felt "fine" but really, I was stuck. When conversations got deeper — stories, opinions, emotions — I froze and not because I didn’t want to speak, but because I couldn’t express myself the way I wanted to.
When I met Cecilio, we mainly spoke in Spanish but I would switch to English when I would start telling stories. One day, he stopped me and said: "We can speak in Spanish or English but you can't switch when it's uncomfortable." So he listened. Patiently. Slowly. Through badly told stories, long pauses and awkward phrasing. However, he helped me find structure, offered better ways to say things, and adapted to how I learn best. That's when things clicked. Not overnight, but slowly I started feeling more comfortable and natural when speaking.
Most learners don't struggle because they lack motivation or intelligence. They struggle because they don't have the right tools, guidance, consistency and/or safe space to practice speaking.

Cuentacuenta was born from that realization.

Together, we created a way to help learners move past the plateau — through guided conversation courses, simulated real-life practice, and personalized feedback from a real teacher.

Cecilio is a Spanish teacher with 15+ years of experience helping learners go from understanding Spanish to actually speaking it. He specializes in guiding students through the hardest stage of learning — the plateau — where grammar is “fine” but conversation still feels uncomfortable.
At Cuentacuenta, Cecilio is the expert listening to your audios, giving clear, supportive feedback, and showing you how to sound more natural — without pressure or perfection. His focus is simple: real conversation, real guidance, real progress.
